The second session of the webinar series "Advancing Injury Prevention through Policy," co-sponsored by CSN and the Network for Public Health Law, will focus on state youth concussion laws. "Implementation of State Youth Concussion Laws: Perspectives from the Frontlines" will first provide an update on which states have passed youth concussion laws, as well as preliminary results of an interview survey with state officials and organizational leaders charged with implementation of these laws in their own states. Next, presenters from three different organizational perspectives-public health, education, and athletic/activities association-will each share their experiences in implementing the laws in their states.
About the Speakers:
Presenters will be Kerri McGowan Lowrey, J.D., M.P.H, Deputy Director, The Network for Public Health Law-Eastern Region, University of Maryland Francis Carey School of Law; Carlene Pavlos, M.T.S., Director, Division of Violence and Injury Prevention, Massachusetts Department of Public Health; Paula Hudson Hildebrand, MHDL, R.H.Ed., Chief Health and Community Relations Officer, North Carolina Department of Public Instruction; and Gary Matthews, Executive Director, Alaska School Activities Association. The session moderator will be Cindy Rodgers, M.S.P.H., Project Specialist, Children's Safety Network.
