From March 28-31, Operation UNITE in collaboration with CDC and other sponsors will host the 5th Annual National Prescription Drug Abuse & Heroin Summit in Atlanta, GA. Join your colleagues for meaningful dialogue and collaboration as we address the prescription drug abuse and heroin use epidemic in our country.

The four-day event is the largest national collaboration of professionals seeking to address prescription drug abuse and heroin use. The Summit will include ten educational tracks tailored to provide stakeholders timely and relevant information for their particular field. Tracks include Advocacy, Clinical, Federal, Heroin, Law Enforcement, Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs, Pharmacy, Prevention, Third-Party Payer, and Treatment.

Organizers have pulled together more than 200 thought leaders from across the country to lead discussions using evidence-based data. General Session keynote speakers this year will include: CDC Director, Thomas Frieden, MD, MPH; the Honorable Harold “Hal” Rogers (R-KY), Chair of the U.S. House Appropriations Committee; Honorable Earl “Buddy” Carter (R-GA); Honorable Paul A. Goser (R-AZ); and Honorable William “Bill” Keating (D-MA). Other keynote speakers will include Vice Admiral Vivek H. Murthy, U.S. Surgeon General; Mr. Tom Vilsack, the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture; and leadership from the Drug Enforcement Administrator, the Office of National Drug Control Policy, the Food and Drug Administration, the National Institute on Drug Abuse, the National Institutes of Health, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, and the President of the University of Kentucky.

Most of the sessions will qualify for Continuing Education credits. Please check the Summit website for more details as they become available.

The High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas program, which currently has 28 regional offices covering approximately 60 percent of the U.S. population, has signed on as the Summit’s Law Enforcement Partner.
