About the Webinar

This webinar is part of the South to Southwest Network's year-long series on Innovations in Policy and Practice for Injury and Violence Prevention.  It provides an overview of online communications approaches for suicide prevention and takes an in-depth look at the communications approaches utilized in the Mantherapy.org website and campaign, which raise awareness about and provide resources to address adult male depression.  The target audience for the webinar is public health professionals working in state and local health departments.  The webinar content is not intended for children or teens.

Learning Objectives: 

  • Understand basic communication concepts such as the importance of clarifying what you want to achieve, the three Ps and what role promotion can play in prevention, and audience segmentation. 
  • Comprehend communication concepts used in ManTherapy.org, a real-life example of online communications, and understand what is involved in a large-scale communications program.
